| General: | In this day of political correctness, we seek to show all aspects of life On Denniston as a social and technological history of our pioneering men and woman. |
| Synopsis: | The Denniston Incline was an engineering masterpiece of the early pioneering days in New Zealand. Built on the side of a mountain it carried coal from the mines to the railhead at Cons Creek there transported to Westport for shipping to the world markets. A town was built on the Denniston plateau where the only way in and out was by the incline. People used the link to get to Westport to do most of their shopping. The incline closed in 1967 after 88years of operation. In this documentary we look at old films and photographs from the past and intercut these with footage from today. Included in the modern footage are interviews with some locals, on location look at the relics of that era and special music and sound tracks written for the film. |
