PERSONAL SKILLS

I am an organised and hardworking person who always meets set deadlines. Education has always been important to me, as I have been determined to pursue a career in radio.

I am friendly, polite, conscientious, mature, sensible and willing to learn.

In my current job role I feel I have been able to demonstrate these skills in helping enhance the local profile of the station with both clients and the audience.

I.T. SKILLS

At college I successfully undertook Key Skills assessments, also taking an ICT course whilst at Neston High School, which included creation of documents and spreadsheets.

As part of my university Media coursework, my A level courses and from work experience, I can now easily use Apple Mac computers and utilise programs such as Adobe Audition, Adobe Photoshop, Quark Express and Macromedia Freehand. I also have considerable experience in filming and digital editing of video footage using both iMovie and Avid.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

I’m a confident and an outgoing person who finds it easy to get along with others and can cope well in differing or difficult situations.

Throughout college and university I have had to prepare and talk about many topics in front of large audiences.

In 2003 I had the opportunity to lecture to over 200 prospective students and their parents at Birkenhead Sixth Form College Open Evening.

Whilst working at Buzz 97.1 fm/Marcher 103.4fm, I have been required to speak on the radio many times as part of my ‘Thunder’ duties and have presented a segment called ‘Soap Bubble’ in a Saturday show where I talked about what was coming up in the next week in the television soaps.

DETAILS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE

Since September 2007 I have been employed by Gcap Media (now Global Radio) as the full time Promotions Co-ordinator for Wirral’s Buzz 97.1 fm. In this role my duties include marketing the station in a positive manner, organising and attending specific client promotions and events, as well as on a daily basis being out & about in the station vehicle helping to raise awareness of the station and creating both live and recorded links.

In addition, as part of this role I work with the Breakfast Show team devising, researching and creating themes and supporting “stunts” for discussion during the show and to provide ongoing listener interest and involvement.

For the three years whilst at university, I also worked for Gcap’s Marcher Radio Group (Buzz 97.1fm, Marcher Sound 103.4fm, Champion 103fm and Coast FM) as a team leader for the ‘Thunder’ crew. As well as promotional work at various locations, I provided live and recorded links back to the studio presenters.

These included presentations at The Open Golf Championships 2006, The Wirral Show, Wirral Food & Drink Festival, local Scarecrow & Flowerpot Festivals, The Anglesey Show, UK Music Week, Chester Lord Mayor’s Parade, Store openings, Talent Competitions (Search for a Star), Football matches at Tranmere Rovers, Wrexham and Chester City, Celebrity Charity Football tournaments, Christmas Toy and Easter Egg Appeals (including liaison with receiving charities and distribution of donations), Pop Concerts, Book signings and Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life events in the group area.
