07/01– 01/02                     Clear Money Ltd, 84-86 Regent St, London W1B 5RR
                  Database Administrator

  • My main duties were the design, construction and support of DB2 databases in development and test environments.
  • Clear is the UK’s first Internet bill viewing, payment and management system. It allows billers to present bills and receive payment on-line and consumers to view, pay and file all their household bills in one place.
  • Skills utilised were data analysis and database design, DB2, UNIX (AIX 4.33), Windows NT and SQL.

03/98-07/01                      Acxiom Ltd, London Bridge SE.1 (http://www.acxiom.co.uk)
                  UNIX Developer.

  • I worked on 3 major projects, firstly I worked as part of a team, running the database updates and queries and developing the database, which contained the details of 7 million customers for a large telephone banking company.
  • The next big project which I was solely responsible for involved updating, developing, downsizing and developing SQL reports and adhoc customer queries on the marketing database for a major transportation company.
  • Finally I worked on similar database updates for one of the big blue chip IT companies. This involved a move from the UNIX/Oracle environment to AIX/DB2 environment. Acxiom in general creates generic, flexible solutions using Perl and in-house software in a UNIX environment that converts data to our internal standard and cleanses/links derived new items which are then stored on an Oracle RDBMS.

The experience I gained in employment and during the time I have spent in education has taught me to work effectively both individually and as part of a team. I have learnt to work under pressure, to work to deadlines, to communicate and interact with people from different backgrounds and to manage time effectively.
