Currently:
Studying a 3-year BA Hons degree in Television and Film Production at Edge Hill University (2007-2010)

About Me:

I am an enthusiastic and hard working film student looking to gain much needed experience in the world of television and film. I have always wanted to work in the film entertainment industry, but my passion has grown into an obsession since I started my university course last year. I always throw myself into my work 100%, and believe in never letting egos or personality differences affect my project, or the dynamic of my group. I believe I have the intelligence, personality and creativity to succeed in the fast-paced, exciting and stressful world of television and film production.

Although I have very little professional experience, I have worked on many small independent projects, both as part of my degree and outside of university. I have lots of experience working with actors, especially children, and am familiar with basic camera and lighting set ups. I am also a competent editor, working mainly with Final Cut Studio 3, but am aware of the basics of Avid and Adobe Premier.

I know that I have very little real world experience, but this is my dream career, and I am willing to undertake any work, for any level of pay (or no pay!) in order to make my dream a reality. I don't complain, am happy to work long days on cold locations with a smile on my face, and can make the best cup of tea this side of China.

Other Experience and Interests:

Work Experience:

Exposure Post Production, Soho (May 2009)
I performed basic runner duties, for example serving refreshments and doing deliveries, as well as digitising from a variety of formats and doing standards conversions.

British Broadcasting Corporation, London (Spring 2004)
I spent a week following camera operators and helping with general production duties on various different programmes, including Crimewatch UK, CBBC
and Top of the Pops.

 Paid Work:

RDF Television, Soho (June 2009)
Following a successful work experience placement at Exposure Post Production, I was offered a months paid employment by RDF Television as a transcriber for the programme Aussie Ladette To Lady Series 2. This involved logging and transcribing all interviews and some actualities for all 6 of the hour long episodes.

RollingSound & PGL Holidays, Shropshire and Hindhead (July – August 2009)
I spent 6 weeks at PGL Holiday centres running their specialised Film Making Holiday. This involved working with groups of up to 12 children each week, aged between 10 and 16, teaching them the basics of camera operation and film production, and then filming a short film with them over the course of 4 half days. I then had to complete all of the editing and DVD authoring so that each child had a finished copy of their film on DVD at the end of the course.

Voluntary Work:

Westfield Primary School (April 2009 – present)
I worked as a voluntary teaching assistant in the year one class (ages 5 and 6), helping children with their reading and crafts, as well as organising games and activities for P.E. lessons.

Woking Youth Arts Centre, Knaphill (2007 - present)
I have been involved in running workshops for 12 – 16 year olds, helping them to write, storyboard, film and edit their own experimental short films. I have also helped to film many of the concerts run to showcase the young bands helped by the centre.

Previous Projects:

Don’t Say I Didn’t Warn You! (Short Script)
A 10-page film noir, in which a private detective is asked to search for the murderer of his ex-fiancée’s new lover.

-       3rd top rated short script for November 2008 on American Zoetrope (www.zoetrope.com)

-       7th in the DVXuser PulpFest script competition (www.dvxuser.com)

Day Of The Geek (Documentary)
A documentary examining the rise of the comic book geek, from being socially shunned to becoming part of mainstream culture. Includes interviews with big name comic book writers such as Mark Millar and Bryan Talbot.

Other Interests

Screenwriting:
I have recently become interested in writing screenplays, after being introduced to it during my university course. I have written several short scripts, and am an active script reviewer, both on the internet and socially, giving people honest and constructive feedback on their work.

Photography:
I am a keen photographer, and enjoy learning different photographical techniques, such as HDR and macro. I submit my photographs for sale on several stock photography websites, as well as doing portrait photography and actor headshots at my University.

 Computing:
I am competent at both Windows and Macintosh systems and can touch type 63 words per minute with confidence. I am also familiar with common software such as Microsoft Office, as well as specialised software such as Final Cut, Avid, Compressor, DVD Studio Pro, Motion as well as Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. I have a basic knowledge of computer hardware, and am able to diagnose and fix simple hardware and software problems.
