A highly experienced VT Operator/ Edit Assistant within a post production environment. Familiar with all the latest HD, PAL and NTSC Sony and Panasonic VTRs. Comfortable using High Definition and Standard Definition technology including standards conversions. Also experienced using analogue formats including composite and component features of VTRs. QC trained to a high standard to ensure tapes pass broadcast and distribution specifications. Excellent encoding and transcoding skills within various software programmes including Adobe Premiere, QT Pro and Windows Media Encoder. Basic HTML skills including Dreamweaver and also compotent using Photoshop.

A varied and hands-on role based within one of the top 10 post houses in the UK. Edit assistant duties included Avid troubleshooting, basic editing and ensuring digitizing and conforms were completed efficiently.
Daily duties include:
Setting up AVID online/off-line suites using Facilis technology
Editing footage to remove part breaks, add end cards
Communicating with Bookings and Project Managers to ensure clients needs including deliverables are met efficiently
Encoding/ transcoding within AVID, Sorensen Squeeze and Adobe Premier
Standards and cross conversions using HD Alchemist and UKON
Duplication of all formats of tape including down-conversions and Aspect ratio conversions.
Digitizing rushes into AVID and Final Cut Pro at various resolutions
Conforming offline sequences ready for online editing
FTP uploads
Watching play-outs to ensure broadcast quality
Media management
QC trained and experience using Tekronix to ensure broadcast specifications are met

Originally a runner, I was promoted into the position of VT Operator. A busy and varied role requiring in-depth technical knowledge, the ability to copeunder pressure and maintaining a machine room which serviced 5 DS Nitris suites, 13 Avid Adrenaline (Offine and Online) Editing Suites, Audio Suites, GFX and DVD Authoring. Understanding HD technology was an essential part of this role in addition to understanding encoding/ transcoding and standards conversion. In addition to this the Avid Unity ISIS system was used to ensure media management.
