| I would describe myself as hardworking, reliable and creative with a good sense of humour. I am an enthusiastic worker with very good ICT skills (PC and MAC) and I have the ability to learn quickly. I am currently studying at Guildford College, in my second year of a very interesting media course. Last year was a learning curve; we had to make our own short film in a production team managing all aspects to the pre and post production stages. This second year we are making another short film, however this year we will be working individually thus creating more of a challenge and independence. When making the films I have found myself mostly enjoying the editing side as well as the production side to things. I really enjoy being out on set with the camera and directing the scene making things happen but I also really enjoy the editing part, creating the finished product and putting everything we had filmed together and feeling good about it. The first year we did four projects; a short film (with trailers), an individual experimental film, health and safety film and a music video. The most enjoyable out of them all was the short film; this took up most of our time and I mainly found being part of a team the most enthralling part as none of us had done anything like it before and everyone helped each other. As it’s a two year course I can only give grades from the first year which were six merits and four distinctions. I first showed a real interest in editing and filming whilst in my last year of school studying for my GCSE’s. I used a small (bad quality) camera at school to film my friends at lunch and breaks; playing football, play fighting (for the camera) etc. Then I would edit these clips at home on my computer into short silent films with comedy music playing over the top, my friends and family enjoyed them and I enjoyed making them. I have now recently bought a new ‘ Sony handycam’ video camera and an ‘iMac’ computer to help with college work this year as well as helping me improve these short films I enjoy making. I see them as good practice for editing and camera work. I would really like to combine my knowledge of Media with my interest in football; possibly working behind the scenes on a football programme such as ‘Match of The Day’ or ‘Sky Sports.’ However I do not want to limit myself to one particular route; from everything I have mentioned I am mainly interested in a career working in film, television and possibly a few areas in video games. I have been looking into the making of FIFA 08 and have been intrigued again to do something in the motion capture field. I can only hope that employers see my versatility and enthusiasm as plus points into the many areas where I could fit in and do a good job for their company.
