Relevant Work Experience
2008: Cameraman on a student studio-based programme entitled V. I. P which was aimed at students in and around Liverpool. . This gave me a chance to further improve my skills behind the camera and it was during this project that I used Studio cameras for the first time.
2007: Co-founded a small production group (currently three members) called Underdog Productions. Our main aim is to produce drama and comedy short films ranging from 2 minute sketches to short series. While being a part of this group I have been involved in 30 or so meetings to discuss ideas. I feel this has built my team-working skills and I have greatly enjoyed being in such a creatively nourishing environment. I also came up with the name of the Company much to the agreement of my fellow members.
2007: Filmed and edited a short documentary about ‘The Jacaranda’ a local pub within Liverpool City Centre where the Beatles first played as youngsters. I used my previous experience a great deal while making this piece; dealing with the general public and interviewees to bring opinion as well as fact to the argument. My main role was camera work and editing and I feel that this has given me a more complete experience of film-making.
2006: Conceived, Directed and edited a music video for the song Human Condition by my friend Stuart Bedford. My Editing skills greatly increased while making this piece, as I was working with images that had to be synced up to the music exactly. However I greatly enjoyed solving the problems that this created and feel that I my film-making skills were greatly improved as a result.
2006:Head Camera Operator and Editor on a short documentary about the Homotopia Gay and Lesbian culture festival.Gained access to the FACT cinemas and secured interviews with Matthew Fox (Executive of the Outsiders Film Festival, which is one of the main Homotopia events), and Chris Bernard (a major contributor to the festival). The experience this piece gave me was invaluable; as it was the first time I had dealt with members of the general public (through vox pops).
2006: Assistant Director and Cameraman of a political visit to LiverpoolCommunity College by MP David Milliband. As this was the first time I had been allocated this level of responsibility such as filming various shots and helping to organize certain aspects of the day such as time and locations of interviews with key contributors. I gained some essential experience and I feel that this experience has increased my confidence in my own ability ten-fold.
