Production Runner – Transmission Impossible
Transmission Impossible is a live BBC Saturday morning show presented by Ed & Oucho, with a pre-recorded show that goes out Sunday morning on CBBC. My role as production runner on the CBBC show involves many responsibilities including
·Keeping a log of all tapes and people wishing to borrow them
·Assisting with the live phone in which Children are used as part of a quiz element
·Getting advances for expenditures and claiming back expenses
·Helping with P4A paperwork
·Helping to transfer all props and equipment by car to the location at Pinewood
·Assisting in the studio and location shoots; standing in when necessary and helping the crew
·Researching props and costumes and arranging to collect them within the time span given
·Assisting the production team with queries and requests
·Ordering stock and stationary when necessary

As a runner for the studios you’re priority is to look after the studio gallery crew and the role consists reporting to the resource manager and tending to the crews needs and whatever may be required of me. At foundation level I gained hands on experience working on studio recordings and location shooting. At degree level my studies focused on television production roles and techniques. At Ravensbourne I acquired working experience in many broadcast operations but gained a high interest and experience in the role of a studio P.A in the live studio environment; including PA’ing for ‘The Link Show’ live for the major student broadcast event ‘Rave On Air’.
