Film, Last Move
Last Move is a gritty urban story about the downward spiral of a reformed London gang member who is trying to turn his life around. The project took nearly a year to complete during which time my roles included camera work, direction and all the editing. It was hard work requiring a lot of dedication from all those involved, including the 46 cast members and a production crew of 22+the film will be released shortly
2007 -07 Camera Floor and Equipment Driver (Temporary employment)
Take 2 Films
This was a temporary post I took whilst waiting for work to start on Last Move. My role included loading up equipment and delivering it to various film locations for production companies, though I was only there a short time it provided me with an excellent opportunity to learn about other aspects of the film industry
2006 – 07–Editor– Camera operator
Pow -Pow Documentary
Pow-Pow was a documentary exploring the success and motivation behind the music artist ‘Lethal B’ the documentary included contributions and interviews from fellow artists involved in the ‘Grime music industry’. My main role on this production was that of editor, on completion I was asked to produce the DVD, which was later available for purchase at HMV.
2006 – 06 Editor – Camera operator - Director
Dance Off
Dance off, was a Hip Hop dance competition and was the brainchild of a dance teacher /choreographer called Snas who wanted to stage a dance competition for urban dancers. She asked me to help her organise the show which I later filmed and edited, the final DVD was a double disc feature 4 hours long. Sales from the DVD provided enough funding for a second show, due to its success Sony music entertainment are now sponsoring all future events
2006 –07 - Editor – Camera operator - Director
Trainers
Being hired to work on Trainers gave me the opportunity to work on my first film, I was involved in a lot of the camera work but my main role was as the final cut editor. It was the first major film project from a small company called ‘Indemand productions’ unfortunately the film never got released but it was still a worthwhile experience.
2004 -04 – Editor – Camera operator
Up In Smoke (Music tour )
This was a ‘fly on the wall’ documentary featuring British Rap artists, Wiley, Roll Deep and Kano, filmed during their tour of Holland. I worked closely with the promoter behind the event and had the opportunity to film behind the scenes as well as at the concerts I was responsible for all the editing and produced the DVD which was later sold nationally through HMV and Uptown Records.
2003-03– Editor
Notting Hill Carnival ‘YCTV and BBC Special’
YCTV in collaboration with the BBC had spent two years collecting information focusing on the history of the Notting hill Carnival to produce footage to be used as part of a documentary. They covered all aspects of the event, ranging from the promoters, bands, and costume, and float designers. This search produced over one hundred hours of footage, however they then had problems finding someone with the time and patience required to cut it down to two hours without losing the diversity and essence of what the carnival is about. I was given the opportunity to cut my teeth editing this challenging but worthwhile project, fortunately I had just purchased my first G5, so was able to take the project home, and after long four weeks I completed the edit and the show was eventually aired on BBC 2 and YCTV.
Additional Information
My passion for media started in school, at 15 I joined the YCTV academy where I spent all my free time, at 16, I made the decision stay at YCTV and be trained in Final cut Pro rather than stay on in 6th form. During my six years with YCTV I directed many of the programs for their own channel that were aired on Sky and Digital TV. I was fortunate to be given my own show which was later entered into the Portobello Film festival. I credit YCTV in giving me the skills and confidence to enter higher education, they provided me with so many excellent opportunities during my time there and I made some incredibly talented friends, for all these reasons, and more, I will be eternally grateful to them
