- Video Editor (Quantel) cut day to day news items and featurettes, but the main work now is colour grading and adding effects to VJ cut pieces. Sound Mixer (Calrec C Series) for daily news programme. Media Hub Operator (incoming/outgoing lines, vt transfers/ingestion to server, dubbing etc).
Andalucia, Spain - Freelance Video Games Localisation Tester – (November 2008 – Present)
- Because of strict client confidentiality clauses I am unable to publish details of the nature of the work. However my creative skills looking at pictures as a video editor/designer, and my office skills for dealing with data prove very valuable.
No Toro/Big Fish Productions, Andalucia, Spain - Freelance Shoot/Edit/Design – (January 2008 – July 2008)
- Working with award winning writer Gill Adams I Shot (Sony PD150) and Edited (Avid) various material from the highly exclusive Puerta Banus to the local rubbish tip for an independent production company.
- Designed advertisements for print publication of TPS magazine.
BBC, Hull, UK - Technical Operator – (October 2006 - December 2007) (End of fixed term contract)
- Main duties in a server based newsroom for the regional news programme ‘Look North’ include; sound mixer and recordist (Calrec C series, SQN), craft editing (Quantel), camera operator inc studio & Sony Z1 & PD150, bulletin directing (sound & vision), floor manager (Health & Safety) and media hub operator (incoming/outgoing lines, vt transfers/ingestion to server, dubbing etc).
- Delivered an introduction to microphones, recording techniques, and importance of soundtrack workshop to the independent production teams submitting inserts for the BBC’s Comic Relief production.
Hull Flood Aid - Organiser/Promoter – (June - September 2007)
- Over 60 bands, and creative organisations showed an interest, and we planned for a full day of music & entertainment to raise awareness.
- I handled all negotiations with the artists and management and suppliers. Worked alongside the police, security and local council. Sourced fund raising from sponsors. Through to all publicity with the media and the volunteers.
- NOW Records was born to release the HULL FLOOD AID CD, which featured the 16 bands scheduled to play at The Mick Ronson Memorial Stage. This went on sale via MySpace and HMV.
Virtual World Golf Ltd, Hull, UK – Company Director – (February 2005 to August 2006)
- Conception of the original idea and the preparation of the business plan, through to the fund finding of the £350k needed to open the UK’s second state of the art golf simulator centre and events venue, through to the day to day operations of a limited company. VWG was a regular attraction for Premiership Footballers and Super League Stars, as well as the more executive clients from BP, Reckitt Benckiser, and Smith & Nephews.
- Introduced golf to a wide range of young people from the various Hull City Council’s Sports Development Groups. This lead us to open negotiations with the local council, sports partnerships, the schools and all of the bodies and institutes behind golf; The Golf Foundation, The PGA and The EGU, to recognise our role (virtual golf facilities) in addressing a Sport England lead initiative.
- Designed all the companies’ promotional material, inc the website.
- Hosted diverse events such as theatre. Award winning playwright Gill Adams production ‘Sweet UFO’, which was set on a golf course, made good use of the space and the audio / video technology we had there. I mixed sound and lights for one performance.
- Day-to-day duties; staff management, promotions including web and SEO use, building business to business relationships, good public rapport, health & safety, working alongside the community, police and fire departments, and the local council in regards to being supervisor of a licensed premises .
ITV / Yorkshire Television, Hull, UK - Technical Operator – (July 2001 to April 2005) (Redundancy)
- Edit daily news & sport packages, using first a Sony BVE Tape to Tape suite then NLE Avid Newscutter . Record studio voice-overs and effects. Sound recordist (Oasis Live in Hull). Setup of studio camera, lights and talkback communications to GMTV London for live guests.
- Worked on the award winning Calendar News Kingston Interactive Television News & Sports programme. The production of the daily ten minute bulletin included graphics design (sports slides, captions etc) using Adobe Photoshop, sound and vision mixing the bulletin, encoding to interactive TV standards, and overall web development and design using Macromedia Dreamweaver.
ITV / Yorkshire Television, Leeds, UK. – Technical Operator – (Feb 1997 to July 2001)
- Sound mixer/assistant (Calrec/Amek) for a variety of live and pre recorded programmes. These included news/current affairs (Calendar News, Missing, Q & A), sports (Gazetta Football Italia for Channel 4) (Working on Gazetta also included a very complex set of communications rigging between Leeds, Italy and London), Midweek Soccer Special, Soccer Sunday) and live music/entertainment/arts; (The Price Is Right, Tonight, Live Lunch, Friday Night Whitely, The Local, New Visions). As sound mixer for the Tonight program I had the pleasure of mixing a number of the 90’s top artists inc Danii Minogue, Atomic Kitten, Steve Harley, Blue, Jools Holland, The Commitments, The Syd Lawrence Orchestra, Lesley Garrett, Kid Creole & The Coconuts and more.
- Bulletin Controller involved directing and mixing sound and vision for the four to five daily regional news bulletins.

Web Designer & Developer 2008 - 2010
Training for certificates in Adobe Professional, Macromedia Dreamweaver Developer & Flash Professional, Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS), & Microsoft Certified Professional Developer (MCPD), with a goal target for completion and passing by end of 2010. Becoming more knowledgeable in (X)HTML, CSS, Java Scripting will enhance skills I have already used through my career. Combined with my broadcasting skills makes for an good understanding and use of ‘New Media’.
Alchemea – London College of Audio Engineering & Production 1996
Advanced Audio Engineering and Production Diploma - For 9 months, I averaged 65 hours a week study, which included 50 hrs a week hands on studio time using top end pro equipmentlike the SSL G Series with Full Automation. The theory exam covered everything audio from the sound wave & aspects of the microphone, thru MIDI and digital recordings, to Music Theory. Over the course, practical work towards the final mark included recording and mixing techniques, ‘Soundscaping’ radio shows and cartoons, audio books and adverts.
I passed the final practical examination with over 90%.
