INTERESTS

Grace’s passion beyond theatrical make-up lies in music and photography. She also enjoys reading, biographies and poetry and loves meeting new and interesting people.
Both fashion and special effects makeup have become a great passion of mine, i have great interests in aspects of each, so furhering my knowledge and skills in these areas is a long term goal. This would also enable me to have the best opportunities of a career in the makeup industries, which is one of the main reasons for wanting to study at university.
Throughout college i have picked up many different skills, which have helped me develop my knowledge in the areas i hope to study. This has been done not only through work that has been set and compleated, but also through extra activities i have taken on, such as working for small theatre productions, student films and photoshoots. In addition, 3 years ago i took on the task of doing the makeup for the entire cast of 'Aladdin' the pantomime in my home town of Plymouth. This experience helped to build my confidence and diversitise my portfolio, whilst also expanding my desire to further my career in makeup.
Eversince starting college in Bristol my skills in special effects makeup has florished. I have a basic knowledge of different tecniques such as latex ageing, casualty simulation, plaster casting and working with prosthetics. I would like to further my knowledge and skills in this area by doing my degree in special effects makeup so i can become the best i can possibly be in the field.
I have always been an open minded person making it easy for me to adjust to new environments. I see myself as a really easy person to get along with and am always open to meeting new people. I am a typical 'get up and go' type of person, i feel this is proved not only by the amount of events and small productions i have been involved in, but also the amount of time and dedication i have put into college to get all the work done and make sure its the best standard i can give.
I feel that London will be an ideal place for me to study because of its vibrant arts scene and diverse cultural enviroment. I also feel that London will offer me the chance to be involved with exciting and challenging opportunities within my aera of interest, such as internships and work placements in the film industry.
I feel that i will cope well with student life. Having lived out of home for the past 4 years i have been given a lot of responsibilities that i have always been able to cope with. On the educational side, i know that i will work to my full potential as this is a subject i am really passionate about.
