Now I'm not wholly against self-tapes but maybe we'll get lucky, Mandy will take note and finally stop abusing them on the Application Forms. Nothing worse than putting time and effort into something that a CD or Director may not even think me suitable for.

As a newbie on self taping i've found it fun albeit a little time consuming. Although the down side is not getting feed back or even a note saying thanks but no thanks. Coming into the industry late in life and stepping up from being a support artist to more advanced roles is a challenge without any show reel material. Fortunately I have another profession that keeps the wolves from the door.
Pre-screener self tapes shouldn't exist, you are correct. I would rather the CD look at me and decide if I fit before I spend 2 hours creating a video.
