About me
I am a highly enthusiastic and confident young adult who is currently studying A-Level Math’s and Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performing Arts. Acting has always been a big passion of mine. The “off-stage family” excites me equally as much as being on stage and creating entertaining material. When I turned 9, I joined a youth theatre where I learnt the basic skills on singing, dancing and acting. After this, I progressed to a larger drama group outside of the school in which I participated in shows such as Alice in Wonderland. Following this, I began performing in pantomimes with the company "Polka Dot Pantomimes". I am now taking acting further with the "Acting Training Academy" taught at Preston’s College. I have been dancing from the young age of 3 years old, taking part in ballet and tap. I then begun modern and jazz classes and achieved a bronze award in jazz. At the age of 9 I joined street dance and found that this is my strength which I continue to this day. I am currently a member of Dance Talent Studios based in Leyland taking part in multiple competition each year where I have won in the categories of Solo, Set Routines, Duo and Crews.Acting experience:
1- Alicia in Citizenship by Mark Ravenhill (stage)
2- Sophie in Boys by Ella Hickson (stage)
3- Linda in Blood Brothers by Willy Russell (stage)
4- Mrs Lyons in Blood Brother by Willy Russell (stage)
5- Gretel in Grim Tales by the Carol Anne Duffy (stage)
Additional skills:
Away from performing, I am also currently learning British Sign Language (BSL). This has been something I have been interested in for a long time. By learning BSL, I am aiming for new opportunities such as working with kids, weather that's on TV or in person, or communication with a larger variety of people. As well as my course, I participate in dance lessons twice a week and work at my dance school as a teacher's assistant. As a street dancer, I have entered a number of competitions across England competing in solo, set routines, duo and crew. I have been very successful winning first place in all categories. The commitment, precision and timing required has to be finely tuned for each competition additionally balanced with performance and musicality. It required me to stretch my skills each time I'm on the dance floor.
Additional information:
As part of the Actor Training Academy, where I have been tasked with what is known as a director’s project. This involves having to read and decide on a play, which I then have to teach to other students with my own lesson plan and help them create their own characters. Due to this project, it has been necessary for me to be easily adaptable to unforeseen circumstances but still work towards the same end goal. I am also Trining to become a dance teacher. When creating a solo routine, I rely on my own strengths which contrasts to a crew routine as we create a dance that shows off each person's talent but also be able to work as a unit. Being an assistant comes with responsibility. I'm in charge of making sure each dancer is prepared and onstage at the right time. Also I have the responsibility of taking over some of the dance classes, whether that's warming them up appropriately or choreographing a dance that is age appropriate for that
group.
