About me
I have experience in a variety of customer service and hospitality roles from box office and front of house positions in major London theatres such as the National Theatre and Lyric Hammersmith to work in gastro pubs and large scale banqueting events. I believe the varied nature of my previous employment allows me to adapt very easily to new working environments and my professional and vocational work has provided me with the skills to become an adept communicator; adaptable and friendly with a confident manner and the ability to pickup new skills and methods of working very quickly. I am always consistent in my efforts to uphold the reputation of my employer and create a good rapport with customers and as a keen arts enthusiast my frequent involvement in creative projects means I'm always ready to accept a challenge and work productively within a group. I would be able to contribute both a personal passion for theatre and the relevant knowledge of working in a box office or front of house environment at a prolific and busy venue thus fully complimenting a visitor experience.Additional skills:
Within my various box office roles I was usually the first point of staff contact for visitors and worked to provide an approachable and informative service to both existing and new patrons whilst being able to demonstrate and communicate a full understanding of the venue's programming or as was the case with TKTS; what was playing throughout the West End and at what theatre. Skills and responsibilities within these various positions included;
Confident understanding and use of ticketing software Spektrix and Tessitua
Managing bookings and enquiries over the phone, in person and via email
Knowledge of membership categorisation and benefits, also which patrons were friends or associates of the artistic director and creative team and therefore eligible for concessions, comps etc
Manning the front desk throughout the day and after a performance and being responsible for general security, i.e. preventing unauthorised access to the auditorium
Reception duties; transferring phone calls to creative department, stage door administration, greeting visitors for interview, meetings, auditions etc
Cashing up after a performance/end of service
Experience of busy booking periods with staggered ticket release across different levels of membership
Selling merchandise
Assisting on tours of the building
Social media
Health and safety precautions and routines, i.e. location of fire exits
Opening and closing the building, responsibility for the ownership of a key and securing doors
Access bookings and access facilities inc. wheelchair spaces and Sennheiser use
Managing bookings for large groups inc. schools
Processing customer feedback and complaints
Closing and locking up box office at end of service
Additional experience of stage door work; manning desk throughout the day, accepting deliveries, switchboard work and regulating entry to the building.
General administration
Also theatre bar duties; setting up, managing stock, interval orders, cleaning down after service, knowledge of prices and menu details
