About me
I've always desired to work within the creative industries, with the opportunity to facilitate positive, entertainment based experiences for others incredibly appealing to me.When I was 16, my parents moved my family to the UK, and I managed to get some work experience at HSI London - a music video and advertising production company. Whilst there, I was asked to assist on set as the Production runner for Rizzle Kicks’ ‘Lost Generation’ Video. My responsibilities included running various props, ensuring the band members were on set on time and handling equipment. I found the energetic atmosphere so inspiring, and the experience instilled within me a concrete desire to pursue a career behind the scenes in TV/film or music.
After completing my degree and graduating in July 2018, I was selected to be part of The Box Plus Network’s internship scheme in London, where I was on board the production team for 6 weeks. Whilst there, I was asked to write scripts for the music video chart and voice over links for TV. I wrote interviews for UK artists, including Chip, Tom Grennan, Ray BLK and Ms Banks – and actually got to interview Chip myself in the studio, which I loved! I went on a variety of shoots both on locations and based at the network, including David Guetta, Mabel and Kojo Funds. On shoots, I helped set-up/pack-up equipment, get lunch for people and learned how cameras/lighting work. During my internship I was also asked to source various props from across London for live TV shows, got to operate the autocue for live TV, and communicate with various companies and with regard to equipment and timings for deliveries etc.
The whole experience was incredible from start to finish, allowing me to gain so much insight into how the industry works. It was fascinating to learn how interviews and shoots are scheduled and operated, from the creative vision right at the beginning, to the final touches placed in the edit suite.
Most recently, in Australia, I worked for The Sydney Morning Herald as part of the Editorial Newsdesk Team. My role was taking calls and emails from the public about potential news stories, deciding whether they were worthwhile, and passing them onto the relevant journalists if so.
My English Literature degree has equipped me with skills including working to deadlines, critical thinking, research skills and strong written communication. I’ve worked a number of hospitality jobs, which I believe have taught me the ability to remain calm under pressure, be quick on my feet and deal with people and requests in a collected manner. I'm creative and love to think outside-the-box, independently or as part of a team. Task-orientated work really appeals to me, and when committed to a project, I'm very motivated.
