About me
I am a tutu maker, costume assistant, and I am currently the stockroom assistant at The Royal Opera House, where I have been since 2010. It is a varied role and I have a great knowledge of opera, ballet, traditional and modern theatre practices. I have a wide knowledge of fabrics, haberdashery and suppliers for all sorts of costume requirements, plus great relationships with most of the main fabric suppliers.Ballet was my first love and it is what led me to my current career. Following along from that I have started to create my own tutus for clients. It is something that I specialise in making and I am looking to expand on this in the future.
I have good experience in costume supervising/assisting, dressing and buying, having done various roles for lots of different productions. I am a good addition to any wardrobe team with great enthusiasm and the energy required for live theatre.
Additional skills:
Tutu making (romantic and classical plate tutus)
Ballet bodices
Stretch wear
Good fabric knowledge
Good knowledge of and relationship with fabric suppliers in UK and abroad
Referees:
Morag Beaton - Stockroom Supervisor, Royal Opera House
Elaine Garlick - Head of Costume, Birmingham Royal Ballet
Additional information:
I am someone who enjoys the variety that the industry can bring. I enjoy my full time job with the sense of security and long term commitment it brings. But I also enjoy taking on other projects, whether it is pouring time and care into a beautiful tutu and working from home one month, or buying and assisting on a show, running around London shopping the next. I like that this job will bring me anything and everything so please get in touch if you want someone to bring good energy and commitment to your project.
