About me
Monique Muse Dodd (b.1994) is a D.C. and NY based new media artist and independent curator. Their work explores what it means to be black and free, and how blackness exists in the near future. Obsessed with how America consumes black and queer culture Muse interrogates how they contribute to this further commodification of these identities.Using video, sound, and photography Muse refashions histories in ways that uplift or even shift reality. Drawing from personal history, actual and imagined, their work explores what it means to be black and free, and the expansive black radical imagination.
Muse holds a BA in Film Production from Howard University. She is the 2019 DCAC curatorial fellow, and a YAH Space artist in residence, as well as a 2019 ARoS Public Museum selected artist in residence.
