Work Experience
• David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation – May 2011 – This event was a charity fundraising celebration for artist David Sheppard’s 80th birthday, raising money for his wildlife foundation held at the Natural History Museum. My job way to apply tiger make-up to 15 raffle ticket sellers. I only had 90 minutes total make-up time and had to work extremely quickly to ensure they were ready in time.
• “The Cat in the Box” Short film by Robin Anson - April 2011 – This project was part of the “Sci-Fi-London 48 hour film challenge” competition and the film had to be written, filmed and edited in 48 hours, meaning that we had to work very quickly and be adaptable.
• “Beauty and the Beast” Short film by Adam Bacon - March 2011 – For this project I was hired to apply a gelatine burn make-up to the main character “The Beast”. I had to work on a range of locations and sets over the 2 days of filming.
• New Community Arts Academy Production of “Jack and the Beanstalk” Pantomime – February 2011 – For this production I was in charge of the “Baddies” as well as working on various other leads and helping with the chorus make-up. My main responsibility was to design and apply character stage make-up to the two evil leads. I would then work off face charts for 2 or 3 other lead characters that needed make-up before helping with the chorus and children.
• Fear Masters “Temple Hospithell Live” – October 2010 – This job was for a live horror maze. It was mainly special effects make-up. The environment was very similar to working in theatre as we had little time to work in and a lot to do. We had to adapt the make-up to be suitably bold to be able to be seen while in the situations that involved strobe lighting and reduced visibility.
• New Community Arts Academy Production of “Brassed Off” – October 2010 – For this production I worked as part of a small team applying the stage make-up to various cast members including men, women, and children. We were working with very limited space and time, and there were very few make-up artists. This meant that we had to work as quickly as possible to create the make-up. We were also in charge of a very quick costume and make-up change with one of the actors.
• “Darkest before dawn” Short film by Keen City Productions, June-August 2010 -
During this project I was responsible for the special effects make-up; this included some bruising, drag marks, and slit wrists. I worked independently on this project to produce the latex prosthetic pieces required and acted as key make-up artist during these scenes.
Ilkley Amateur Dramatic Society’s Production of “The Hunchback Of Notre Dame”, March 2010 – For this production I worked as part of a large team, providing make-up and special effects for the male cast members and applying a prosthetic back hunch. This was a theatre production and for that reason we had to work in a very short time limit to make sure that all of the performers were on stage for their cues.
