About me
Sabrina began her performing career at the age of 3 when she attended stage school and took classes in dance, drama and singing. Sabrina comes from a musical family and is the niece of Liverpool soul group 'The Christians' who had a string of hits in the 1980's and 1990's, including: Harvest for the World and Ideal World. The Christians still perform regularly in Liverpool and tour the country. Her brother Ian Longo is a well known DJ in Liverpool and is a regular fix on Juice fm. Sabrina trained at the Chiltern School of Dance and Drama in West Derby, Liverpool where she took a variety of exams in Ballet, Tap, Modern, Greek, National and Disco dancing, and gained certificates in Acting for the Guildhall School of Music and Drama exams. She also performed in shows on the Empire theatre and performed at the Playhouse theatre, at the age of 14 as a lead dancer in the pantomime Beauty and the Beast. After studying Performing Arts at college, Sabrina studied for a degree at Edge Hill University, as she developed a passion for performing. She went on to perform in many plays ranging from classical texts like Shakespeare to modern day plays, and visited schools performing in Theatre in Education projects.
Sabrina won the Best Actress Under-21 Trophy at the Crosby Civic Hall in 2001 playing the part of Amnesia in Oedecles King of Thebes, at the Lucilla One-Act Play Festival.
Upon graduation Sabrina pursued a career in television, theatre and film and appeared alongside David Tennant in Casanova (BBC 1 & 3) as an 18th century dancer, Revolver directed by Guy Ritchie, and played a student dancer in Hollyoaks (In Too Deep) in 2005. Sabrina played the part of Patsy Lloyd in Misunderstood? A new musical drama by Barbara Philips that was shown at the Everyman theatre, Liverpool, in 2005 and 2006, and again at the Contact theatre in Manchester in Jan. 2007. The BBC did an excellent review of the show and Sabrina received great feedback on her performance from the famous actress Cathy Tyson. Sabrina also played the part of Esmeralda in a professional production of The Hunchback of Notre-Dame, an outdoor performance at Birkenhead Priory.
Sabrina's passion for performing also seen her win numerous awards in singing including 1st prize in the Grand Opera Class for singing Summertime from Porgy and Bess, which won her a place in the final of the Liverpool Voice of the Year contest at the Liverpool Performing Arts Festival at St George's Hall in 2007.
Sabrina has also performed regularly in concerts with the Una Voce Opera Company as a soloist and as part of the chorus. She has sung opera for the Lord Mayor of Liverpool and the Mayor and Mayoress of Sefton. Sabrina also sang on stage with the English National Philarmonic Orchestra in The Magic of the Opera at Southport Theatre.
In December 2007, Sabrina found fame on the reality TV show 'Wannabe' that was shown on MTV/VH1. The show aimed to put together a new girl-group to rival those already on the scene, and held auditions all over the country. Sabrina had impressed the judges; music industry impresario Roseann McBride, former big brother contestant Chanelle Hayes, and vocal coach to the stars David Laudat, with her singing and dancing talent, and went on to win the show with her band Lady A.
Wannabe was a 6-part VH1 Production and proved a huge hit with the audience becoming VH1's biggest rating show EVER reaching a staggering 2.4 million viewers!
