Job Application Status

Hi,

Apologies if this has been covered previously- I did a quick search and couldn’t find the answer.

I’m a complete newbie to this having only been applying for jobs for the last week. I’m just a little confused about the ‘application status’ of the jobs I’ve applied for.

Some say ‘viewed’ with the date they were viewed and others just have a dash, which I assumed would mean no one has even looked at it. However, when I click into the applications themselves I can see that all of them have been listened to multiple times and that applications viewed several days ago have now have the audition listened to more times with no update to the status.

Can anyone apart from the advertiser be listening to my auditions to tot this number up? Does the status not automatically update based on viewings? How does it actually work?

Thanks,
Nikki

Hi everyone!

Is it better to have music in the back ground when recording a voice demo?
If so, can anyone recommend something I can download to use, bearing in mind I'm looking for something that is free?!

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you!

Suzy

Hi Suzanne,

I would say leave music off - especially if it's for an audition as they'll want to hear your voice and the quality of sound you can provide.

If it's for part of your showreel, that's perfectly acceptable so long as it's relevant to the voice over.

Hope that helps :)

I created a post reiterating what Nikki Mills had said, and it has not appeared.
Also, where do I answer directly to Nikki? She appears to have 3 replies, but there seems to be no way to access them. I click on the number 3 and nothing happens. The 2 comments I see here here below her post have nothing at all to do with her issue, instead discuss music.
How on earth does one use this forum, and why did my carefully worded and detailed post not get posted?? I clicked all the right fields.

Thanks Zoe. I can only see the two unrelated music responses and your latest one too. I’ve had it confirmed that as my auditions are set to private and not publicly on my profile, it can only be the potential client listening. Still doesn’t answer why in some cases I have 15-20 listens and it’s still not even marked as viewed, but at least there’s a bit of reassurance that my work is being heard.

Oh, thank you for responding Nikki. I see that no-one actually answered your question, so my reiteration today, that just disappeared probably wouldn't get traction either. I put it under the category Auditioning, not general Chat
I had no idea I had to decide if my auditions were public or private. Where is that function? I hope the default is not public.
I am surprised that after 2 weeks you have not even had any explanation from admin as to how this viewing status works. I was shortlisted for a project, and when they got it to someone else it came up Position Filled. I don't know if that happens for every job, regardless of whether or not you were shortlisted, as I have only been auditioning for 2 days, so nothing has expired yet.

Thanks Zoe, I’ve read both our threads now and though slightly clearer it still doesn’t ring true for some cases. For example I’ve been messaged by one agency about an audition I’d done to apologise for the delay but let me know I’m under consideration- still not even marked as viewed. I’ve got a current audition with 25 listens over the last 4 days and can see the agency has been looking at my profile - still unmarked.

I’ve also had auditions marked as under consideration then changed to filled, so I guess the official options are viewed, under consideration and filled. I also have a few saying ‘job closed’ but I think that means to new auditions so mine is still in the mix until it changes to ‘filled’.

Basically, I think some ppl who post jobs are very good with updating statuses and others not so much. I don’t understand why them being viewed doesn’t update as soon as they’re listened to though.

Good luck!
