Synopsis



There is no such thing as the perfect marriage. Benedetta was well aware of that when she married Luca Guardani, an affluent politician. And yet, she was far to imagine that their union would turn into a prison of violence, where she would have had to deny herself permanently. To survive, the young woman implements a routine. Every day or almost, she stages her escape from her home, while her husband is working away. Preparing meticulously her two suitcases, she takes off her wedding ring and leaves her home without looking back. However, every time, her courage fades away and she returns to her gilded cage, just before 6 pm.





Description of the Work



In Latin “qui tacet” means “the one who remains quiet”. It comes from the following idiom “qui tacet consentire videtur.” In this production, the locution is a question asked to the spectator: Does silence means consent? Does Benedetta’s silence make her an idiot or a coward? Is she weak? Where lies the frontier between true love and influence? These questions, addressed without judgment hold the mirror to our own humanity, made of strengths and weaknesses. It lifts part of the veil on the ambivalent and infamous answer “I know, but I don’t have the choice. I love him.”
