    Reports to: Production Manager (manager), Wardrobe Supervisor (supervisor)Department: Production – WardrobeFLSA Status: UnionClassification: Full-time, seasonalRepresentation: IATSE Local 99 (collective bargaining agreement)Compensation: Weekly, set by collective bargaining agreementBenefits: *Medical/vision/dental insurance, after 30 days*401k retirement plan, after 30 days*Benefits set by collective bargaining agreement currently include: - contributions to IATSE pension, tax deferred annuity - vacation pay at 4.61%, increasing to 6.25% after four years of service - Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment insurance for length of employment - parking - sick leave, up to six days per year, maximum accrual of 12 days - worker’s compensation insurance - education reimbursementPosition Purpose: Assists in the daily operations of the Ballet West Wardrobe Department, including regular shop and warehouse activities, performance and rehearsal logistics, and other activities covered by the Scope of Work in the IATSE Collective Bargaining AgreementDuties and ResponsibilitiesPrimary Duties: *Assists, as directed, in the preparation, load-in, load out, set-up, rehearsal, run-of-show, and maintenance of all wardrobe materials, costumes, and equipment*Leads, as directed, overhire wardrobe and laundry workers in the completion of specified tasksAdditional Duties: *Assists in the creation, regular maintenance and implementation of inventory functions*Assists with fittings, including scheduling as needed*Acts as lead in the absence of the Wardrobe Supervisor*Assists with the preparation of all wardrobe related items including hair and shoes while in the shop*Assists with the implementation of hair, makeup, shoes, and other wardrobe-related items while in the theatre*Assists with the cleaning and restocking of wardrobe inventory*Leads Local 99 crew in setup and maintenance of costumes and wardrobe needs.*Leads, as directed, work of dressers and laundry workers in performance venues*Accompanies and supports national and international company touring, as needed QualificationsEducation/Training: *A combination of education and experience amounting to the minimum equivalent of a bachelor’s degree and three years of apprenticeship level professional training.Professional Experience: *Minimum of three years of journeyman-level experience in professional performing arts technical production with significant work in wardrobe and costuming.*National and international touring experience (preferred)Supervisory Experience: *Demonstrated experience and knowledge of supervising and leading union crews of diverse abilities and personalities in a variety of venuesDesired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:*Working knowledge of all areas of stagecraft and technical production*Expert knowledge of conventions and practices of dance costuming and wardrobe functions*Basic understanding of the conventions of classical ballet*Basic understanding of budgets and purchasing practices*Demonstrated ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. *Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.*Ability to travel internationallyCertificates, Licenses & Registrations:*Valid passport and driver’s licenseWorking Conditions*Working environment may often be considered extreme in regards to; temperature (extreme heat or cold), light (bright or dark), noise and fumes.*Because travel will be involved, the employee may be exposed to varying work environments.Physical Requirements*While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to write, type, talk or hear. *The employee is frequently required to sit. *The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and to use hands to finger, feel handle and reach with hands and arms. *The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds in weight.*Specific vision abilities is required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust and focus.Direct Reports*This position does not directly manage any other staff members, but is regularly required to direct the work of overhire and house wardrobeBallet West is an Equal Opportunity Employer
