About me
In 2015 I graduated with a degree in Journalism, Media and Communications from Northumbria University, finishing with an upper class 2:1. Last year I completed time as a ‘trainee casting assistant’ at IPM Casting in Leeds as well as being junior editor for Topic UK magazine in Wakefield. Currently I work within Copywriting, Outreach and PR.I am a reliable, self-motivated team player with a wide range of interests and a friendly and sociable manner. I think creatively and ‘out of the box’, yet I have a strong understanding of protocols within a business. I always have a positive attitude and additionally, I am trustworthy, a quick learner and have strong skills in IT. I am able to complete tasks using initiative and imagination to produce a professional outcome. As you can see from my attached CV, I have a great deal of experience within television and media, completing placements with True North Productions as well as my current role as a trainee casting assistant at IPM casting. I believe the knowledge and skills built up during this time make me the right/perfect candidate for the role. My previous tasks and skills within previous roles include, (but are not limited to), telephone etiquette training, blogging, creating images for social media campaigns, editing, copywriting, Wordpress, administration, casting using Spotlight, CN, CCP (television), Mail Chimp, stock-take, restocking products, product knowledge, health and safety, invoicing, customer interaction and general problem-solving. I’m a ‘hands-on’ person with a wide range of interests. I can play a number of musical instruments, including clarinet at which I achieved Grade 8. I’ve played for Kirklees music school orchestra across the country and in Germany. In school I was on the Girls Hockey, Netball and Football teams and was part of academic clubs, particularly Science and English. I enjoy the art of story telling, and write a personal blog in my spare time. I enjoy travelling, and have participated in a lot of voluntary work, working with younger people, as well as for various charities. Creativity is an important part of my life and in my spare time I constantly try to improve my composition, drawing, photography and film. I am adept on software programmes such as Maya, Flash, After Effects and Z-brush, as well as extending my use of Adobe suite, such as Photoshop and InDesign. I am also able to use the Avid editing software and have recently gained an assistant director credit with Rossi Pictures in Leeds. Drawing is a consistent hobby, and I run a social media account for my artwork, as well as focusing my final dissertation on social media theory where I produced, wrote the content, designed and printed a magazine. I am able to produce this magazine as well as a portfolio of live-web articles I have written for the student newspaper ‘The Tab’ and for IPM Casting. I am confident that I can bring this level of success with me to your organisation and help build upon your reputation. With my previous experience and expertise, I believe my contribution will have an immediate impact on your production!
