About me
ALEXANDER WILLIAMS is a writer, director, actor and singer. A Cambridge graduate, he has twice been a member of the prestigious Royal Court Writers Groups. His play Thyestes received a three star review from Guardian theatre critic Michael Billington during its run at the Battersea Arts Centre (2008). His short comedy One Day on the Train was enjoyed at both the Golden Delilah project at the Hackney Empire and the Jackson's Lane Theatre. He is a founding member of Scriptonite, the London playwright's collective and has presented many readings of his plays at the Old Red Lion, Lauderdale House and the Bossanyi Studio, including his verse plays Ophelia and King Caliban, romantic comedy Ten Dates and children's musical The Lost Children.Acting experience:

Additional information:
A singer, writer and teacher based in Watford. He hosts the popular Dial Up Open Mic events, which celebrate community and creativity in all their forms. Twice part of The Royal Court’s prestigious Young Writer’s groups, he was selected by Penguin Books in 2016 to attend their WriteNow event, aimed at increasing diversity in publishing. His children’s book Wendy the Whale was published by Wynstone’s Press in 2011, his poetry collection Black Iris in 2014, and his young adult novel His Hidden Wings by TSL Books in 2018. Plays include: Thyestes (Battersea Arts Centre 2008); Ophelia (Old Red Lion 2009); Dinner and a Doughnut (Scriptspace 2012); One Day On The Train (Scripted at Southwark Playhouse 2012); Stronger (Talawa Hotspots 2012); Ten Dates (Bossanyi Studio 2014, Attico Arts Café 2016, London Improv Theatre 2017); Gust (Pen Fed Festival 2017); Angelique (Shaw Theatre 2019); and The Lost Children, a musical for schools. In 2021 he was selected to be in the BBC’s prestigious QT50, becoming a regular contributor to the flagship political debate show Question Time. He is a regular contributor to Humanistically Speaking magazine.
