About me
My name is Damian Freddi and I live and work in York. I'm an upbeat, enthusiastic and creative person. I enjoy martial arts, creative writing, performing and am what would be widely considered a world class geek. I never back down from a challenge and never stop working until I've completed a task. I enjoy being thrown out of my comfort zone and trying new things in both my personal and professional life.Skills

Highlights
-
I have been acting for two years professionally. I currently own and operate my own theatre company called Nightshade productions that does a lot of theatre work in and around York, much of which I have been a part of under other directors. I have worked in the promenade and site specific spheres and have extensive experience of improvised comedy and devised theatre.
In front of cameras I have been involved in commercials for the Trainline and 888 Casino and was also involved in ITV's Black Works. I have also been part of a large number of short film projects. I have had major roles in productions like 'I Am Tim' in York as well as in one off projects like 'Forged', 'Red Wolf' and 'Breaking News'. From these parts I have a good understanding of how to work with cameras and can do so professionally and efficiently.
As a professional theatre actor I have worked in a variety of venues from designated theatre spaces to more site specific productions including national heritage properties like churches and houses. I feel that this has given me adaptability and flexibility as an actor. I also feel that having worked both as an actor and also behind the scenes has added to this flexibility as I have a good understanding of how productions work and so tend to work better as part of a team within them.
My work as a writer has also helped to further my acting skills by helping me work with scripts from a wide range of sources. I've worked in and directed critically acclaimed productions of Shakespeare as well as modern interpretations of classical texts. I've also been part of developing, writing and performing original pieces of work. I feel that this has gifted me with an understanding of how to work well with words and how to make directions fit a script.
I have been involved in the choreography and performance of several pieces of stage combat, including both armed and unarmed combats. I feel this experience combined with my 15 years of study in Shotokan Karate has given me an awareness of myself physically, good general health and taught me discipline and dedication. This experience also means that I tend to be able to learn and perform stage combat quickly and effectively.
