My names Joe Wandera I'm 20 years of age from Manchester. I’ve been acting for 8 years and started my career with MaD Theatre Company performing in various theatres, schools and festivals across Manchester leading me to have an extensive range of theatre experience. I have progressed through the company not only become one of their most established actors but I have also taken part in training to become a workshop leader running drama workshops with children and young adults and co directing productions.
My theatre performances consist of a variety of characters from comical and serious with one performance being described ‘standout’ and ‘impeccable’ by ‘the fiction stroker’ in a performance called ‘Gin & Chronic Arthritis’ performed as part of Manchester fringe festival in July 2012. This lead to a book of the performance being published 2013. Having performed in Theatres all over the UK one of my favourite productions I was involved in was in Bournemouth 'You know what you are' written by 'D.D Armstrong' (co writer of scenes/ Actor in Adulthood) where I played a footballer who was to come to terms with racism within the sport, the performance was part of Black History Month. I’ve also performed with the BBC Writers room as part of ‘Salford comedy festival’ where new writers had a chance to showcase their work to producers.
Furthermore I have progressed to expand my experience in film and TV performing recently in Scott & Bailey (Ep 6) on ITV where I played the role of Simon Robbinson whose mother had just been murdered. I have also performed in two reconstructions for ‘BBC inside out’, with the most recent being in March of 2014 where I had to perform as a gang member who was helping to plot a murder. Alongside this I have also been in two short films the most recent ‘Hare’ a short student film directed by ‘Josh Buckley’ was filmed in February of this year.
