About me
I am very disciplined, I expect a great deal from myself and from those I teach. From the bottom of my soul I want my students to succeed and can sometimes give them to much of my time. I am very sensitive to social issues plaguing the world today and find teaching my Theatre as Social Change classes becoming more and more of my favorite. I am getting more involved and trying to find my place to work on a global level with some of these issues. I am now at a place in my life where I want to bring my acting more to the forefront. There are several reason, I miss performing, I am an artist and nothing is really fulfilling that void for me right now. The other reason is I want to stay the most current so I know I'm passing along only the best of my teaching.Additional skills:
Teaching college.
Coaching actors on auditions, college and professional.
Dialect coaching, Italian, Southern, Cockney, English, New York, Irish
Additional information:
After I earned my BA I went straight to NYC where I lived, worked and studied for over 16 years as an actor. It was an invaluable experience for me as a person and an artist. And certainly played a crucial part in shaping the actor, teacher and coach I am today. I returned to graduate school and after earning my MFA in performance I began to put all my training, acting experience and life lessons to work as a professor of theatre and an acting coach both academically and professionally. That is what I have been fortunate enough to do for the past 8 years. I have continued to perform when I am available. I am excited to be spending this summer of 2017 receiving my Meisner certification. It is a 4 week intensive with Larry Silverberg (The Acting Institute) at Carnegie Melon. I started my Meisner training in NYC and have continued to teach it to my students. I look forward to being an artist in training again and challenging myself to do the things I challenge my students to do every day.
