About me
From an early age I took a keen interest in Performing Arts, and pursued this as a career path. I have been involved in many different performances which showcase my abilities not only as an actor but also as a group worker and people person. I have also completed a Duke of Edinburgh award which has given me the opportunities to volunteer as well as learn new skills and mix with new people.I studied Acting at University for three years and the life lessons and experience this gave me was invaluable. I have learnt many different lessons working with many different people and working under pressure to an important time frame. The abilities this has given me include skills such as greater people skills, where I would come into contact with new people every day and integrate into new social groups. I also have been able to partake in many activities such as shows and performances as well as helping out with building, making and organising various events. I have also been given the opportunity to work and live independently and can successfully showcase my ability to manage time and workload.
I seek new challenges and ways to develop myself. I am willing to take on new roles and responsibilities. For example after finishing University I went to Thailand in order to experience new cultures and a different way of life. Whilst there I spent 3 months working as a volunteer helping to teach English to the Hill Tribe schools, during this time I was able to interact with other like minded volunteers from all over the world teaching underprivileged children. Once my volunteer program came to an end, I was offered a full time job as acknowledgement for my hard work. I worked at a school for a whole school year before leaving to return to the UK. Whilst at the school my roles included the teaching of English and Science, where I was in charge of six different classes each with forty-five children. I would also do all the marking and writing of tests and was in charge of my own curriculum. Effectively I was allowed to make my own decisions without outside help or direction.
Being allowed to do this has provided me with many new life experiences, and proved that I can work well under pressure and adapt to any challenges that face me. In particular adapting to life in a new country with a different language. I believe all of the diverse experiences I have had in my life have massively progressed my self-development as a person and proven how I can work in a wide array of situations whether it be in a well functioning team or independently from others to achieve the best results possible.
