About me
Additional information:Andrew began dancing at the age of 4 at the Vaughan Academy of Dance in Melbourne, Victoria. After attending Emmaus College, where he majored in Drama, Music, Theatre Studies, English, he went on to study Musical Theatre at the National Theatre in St Kilda, Melbourne, under such tutors as Jude Roberts, Will Conyers, Peter Tulloch, Tim Smith, Laura Hamilton, Nancye Hayes, and Robyn Arthur.
During his studies, Andrew performed in corporate work for the Melbourne Grand Prix Ball as a tap dance troupe 'Fuel Injected Feet' featuring members of the 'Tap Dogs'. He was also cast in the Japanese Feature Film 'Koi ni utaeba' (A Toast to Love) for Exit Films. Andrew also performed regularly as a party performer for Tony Bones Entertainment.
Following his studies, Andrew worked for the Entertainment Store, working throughout Victoria as costume characters, roving entertainment, and spruiking. This employment eventually led to being cast as Captain Feathersword for 'The Wiggles' and later as the Male Host and Dance Captain for regional 'Dorothy The Dinosaur Dance Party' and 'The Captain Feathersword Show' throughout Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia and New Zealand.
In 2005, Andrew was cast in the Australian musical, 'Dusty - The Original Pop Diva', which had its World Premier at the Victorian Arts Centre on the 12th Jan, 2006, and playing in Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Adelaide, and Brisbane in over 200 shows to critical acclaim. Andrew was also a featured performer in the ABC Television documentary 'Dusty - Little By Little', which followed the musical from it's conception, through to the audition and rehearsal process, and opening night performance.
At the conclusion of Dusty's run in Australia, Andrew was offered a position as a Featured Singer with Royal Caribbean International. In 2007, he joined the Mariner of the Seas performing the shows 'Front Row' and 'Pure Energy'.
During a break from Cruise ships in 2008, Andrew returned to Tony Bones Entertainment to perform in the 2008 Australian Book Week Awards Theatre In Education Tour. He performed in plays adapted from the shortlisted books, 'The Night Garden' by Elise Hurst, and 'Amelia Dee and the Peacock Lamp' by Odo Hirsh, throughout Victoria and South Australia.
Late in 2008, Andrew returned to Royal Caribbean on the Jewel of the Seas performing in the shows 'City Of Dreams', 'West End To Broadway', and 'Tango Buenos Aires'. Andrew is due to return to the Mariner of the Seas late 2009.
Andrew has also performed in 'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat', 'Godspell', 'The Pirates of Penzance', 'The Boyfriend', '42nd Street' for which he was nominated for a Lyrebird Award for Best Youth Performer, and 'Singin' In The Rain' for which he was nominated for a Victorian Musical Theatre Guild Award for Best Dancer. He has musically directed such shows as 'Grease', 'The Witches of Eastwick' 'Alice In Wonderland' and 'Pinocchio'. He was artistic director/choreographer for the children's pop group 'BezFrienz' who performed briefly in 2004 throughout Melbourne and Sydney.
Andrew is a highly regarded dance and singing teacher. He teaches many forms of dance including Classical Ballet, Modern Jazz, and Tap, as well as Song and Dance, and Drama. He has taught at many dance schools throughout Melbourne including; Dance Plus, Stummer Studio, Dramawerkz, Helen Curwood Dance Centre, Toepaz, Lisa's Performing Arts Studio, and Kim Annette School of Dance
Andrew is currently recording his first album, 'Unexpressed', due out 2009 through iTunes and Amazon.com.
