About me
Cody graduated in Modern Dance in 2000 from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, where he twice received the Jackie Chan Scholarship. He then received a full scholarship to join the Transitions Dance Company at Laban in London.Cody has extensive international performing experience, including 3 international touring seasons with Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake http://swanlaketour.com/ , Arthur Pita, De Vlaamse Opera, English National Opera, Royal National Theatre, Theatre-Rites, Future Cinema, American Dance Festival and the London Chinese Culture Centre. He is also a feature dancer in the Hollywood film 47 Ronin (2013 ), starring Keanu Reeves and for Walking on Sunshine!- (2014.)
Cody’s professional choreographic experience started in 2002 in the UK. Over the years, his works have been funded by the Arts Council England, commissioned by the Royal Opera House, Greenwich Dance London and toured across Europe. He was also invited to be the panel judge of Big Dance organised by the Mayor of London, Arts Council England and the BBC. In 2007 he choreographed for the Hong Kong Dance Alliance, Hong Kong Youth Arts Foundation and The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. Cody was also invited to be one of the choreographers for the Asia Young Choreographers Project 2008 held in Taiwan and he was invited back to Taiwan to teach and choreograph again in 2010 & 2013.
As a teacher, Cody has taught at Trinity Laban’s Youth Dance Company, Kingston University, The Royal Music School, Dance City, The Big Dance and Springs Dance in the UK. In Asia, he has taught at Cirque Du Soleil in Macau, Tsoying High School and Tai Nan National Theatre in Taiwan, The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, Hong Kong Youth Arts Foundation, City Contemporary Dance Centre and Renaissance International School in Hong Kong.
Cody is also a professional photographer focussing on dance portraiture and theatre photography. He is a winning photographer for The Place (London) and held a photo exhibition commissioned by the Hong Kong Dance Alliance, also exhibit in The Other Art Fair, Urban Art Fair, Parallax Art Fair, Vide Galley and Showcase Cities, London. He has also been interviewed and invited for solo exhibition by The Camera Club, London. One of the oldest camera club in the world.
Cody has his work exhibit at Ben Sherman, London.
Cody is currently the Creative Director of Cody’s Moving Group, he has produced 2 full-length productions “Having Fun, Seriously” and “The Ever Changing Game” in Hong Kong. In the UK, “Instinct” was shown at Greenwich Dance and “The Fear Factor” was shown at The Place. He also teaches Dynamic Contemporary Dance regularly at Dance Works London.
Cody takes lead in movement exploration and choreography for all Cody’s Moving Group productions.
