About me
"I need to go where people are serious about acting" - Meryl Streep I have a passion for anything related to theatre and I thrive on the adrenaline I get from being on the stage. My talents are within the Performing Arts industry. I love the excitement of show day and I commit to every production that I am in completely. I have excellent self-discipline and focus, I contribute appropriate ideas during rehearsal times and all preparation time away from the rehearsal room to the best of my ability. The very first show I was ever taken to was Beauty and The Beast, it was enchanting and watching those actors move around in such a way that made me believe that they are someone else is something that has always intrigued me. I then started attending extra acting classes at 'Limelight Productions' and this is when I really got to understand my talent for performing; this group also gave me the opportunity to teach acting to younger students. I love being able to get on stage in front of people you know so well and for them to see you as a completely different person on stage. No matter what role you are playing, whether it be large or small being on that stage is the best feeling in the world. Having seen what I can achieve so far in my time acting in professional and amateur performances, I am excited at what my future could hold for me. I am currently studying BTEC 90 credit diploma in Performing Arts (acting). This has made me mature as an actor and really made me understand what is expected of me every day in this industry. It has also helped my confidence to grow to new levels. Doing a unit of Performing Arts Business has helped me learn more about the profession and the different job roles within the industry; it also taught me what it takes to set up your own company and a taste of what it would be like to work within a professional company and devise a whole piece myself. The best example of my learning process would be during the Gothic module we did. I was given the leading lady role of Mina which was my first real chance to show what I can do, but it also gave me the chance to show off my directorial skills as the whole piece was devised. I managed to put together the whole show, working closely with the technical theatre team to work on lights, sound, visual props and costume. This course has also given me the opportunity to explore T.I.E, voice acting and how different types of voice can completely change a piece, it has given me a better insight on practitioners and how every piece you do will always have aspects from a practitioner whether that be Artaud, Stanislavski or Brecht. I am proud of every show I have been in and all the opportunities I have been given so far. I was given the chance to perform alongside the Halle Orchestra which was unforgettable and amazing. The performance I am proudest of was the college performance of The Laramie Project. The whole show was based on the story of Matthew Shepard, I played the part of Officer Reggie Fluty. Not only was it a justice to the family but it was a piece that made the audience more aware on the LGBT community and it was amazing to think that my performance that day could have changed many people's perceptions. I believe that I have truly found what I am supposed to be doing and I am determined to succeed. I am an outgoing individual with strong ambition and drive, I strive to be the best I possibly can in anything placed out before me. I am flexible and open to new working techniques and am ready to learn more about the industry, what it takes to make it and how to work together in a professional company. I would love to progress further and maybe someday be on the west end.Skills
