About me
Im a member of Equity. I studied English Literature at Cambridge University, +experienced much of the thriving student drama scene there -working with people like Lee Hall, writer of Billy Elliot.I'd say I come across as youthful for my age, but have had a rich gamut of life experiences -some of a nature that many actors will never have had (For example, I spent a long period of time confined to a bed +in a wheelchair, suffering severe illness, which has given me a depth +gift of empathy that I can draw on in my acting. I've also had experience of the other side of the coin -having being a carer for my parents in their time of need) Ive travelled abroad quite extensively, lived in different areas of Britain, +mixed with people from a wide range of social backgrounds, so ive gained observations of different types of upbringing +social settings, which gives me a palette of insights +ideas for different roles. Tutors have described my acting as having marked qualities of openess +generosity of spirit. But I can also play punchier, 'harder edged' characters too, +I've been told Im very 'castable' i.e. have a wide spectrum in terms of what I could be cast as
Acting experience:
I studied at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama for a Diploma in Music Theatre, & a 2 year Acting course at Rose Bruford College of Theatre & Performance. I also did a short term course in Acting at Mountview, a foundation course in Acting and Performance Practice at Newcastle College & a Music Theatre Diploma at Gateshead College. Ive done Workshops +Summer Schools (e.g. by The British Theatre Association, + at the Crucible Theatre, Sheffield, culminating in a performance there directed by Ruth Carney (director of 'Ghost' in London's West End). I'm an Associate of The London College of Music, having obtained their Diploma in Musical Theatre. More recently, ive taken courses in the Meisner Approach with 'Both Feet' actor training. Ive performed in a whole variery of straight theatre & musical theatre productions on stage, as well as acted for film, television, & web series.
Additional skills:
Songwriting, Guitar, basic keyboard knowledge, intermediate Tap, basic Ballet, Jazz & Flamenco. I speak French (studied it to A level)
Industry awards:
ALCM (ASSOCIATE OF THE LONDON COLLEGE OF MUSIC)
Additional information:
Although I'm based in Northumberland, I make frequent trips down to London, +am entirely able to come to London (or to wherever) for work, at quite short notice. I'm planning on splitting my time between my home base of Hexham +wherever in the country there is an opening for me in film or theatre projects
