About me
Wren Curtis is an audio engineer, sound designer, and systems technician with extensive experience and professional training in mixing (FOH, monitors, and studio), theatrical sound design, remote recording, designing complete sound systems for a wide variety of venues and purposes, tuning, adjusting, and optimizing existing sound systems, wireless frequency management and coordination, audio networking, and live streaming. Nowadays he works primarily on live events or on sound systems intended to be used for live events. He is also occasionally a composer, and studied music and drama at the University of Virginia, where he received academic recognition and awards for his compositions.In addition to freelancing he currently works for the University of Virginia's Department of Drama, where he maintains the audio and video infrastructures in all the theaters and works with students, training and assisting them in their designs of departmental productions and the use of analog and digital sound boards, cue playback software, and sound system design and configuration.
He's completed a number of hands-on training sessions and seminars with companies including but not limited to: Meyer Sound, Rational Acoustics, d&b audiotechnik SynAudCon, Audinate, Shure, EAW, Yamaha, and Nexo on subjects such as sound system design, FFT measurement and system tuning, line array and subwoofer array configuration and optimization, wireless frequency coordination, and audio networking best practices. He has also taken multiple rigging classes from Delbert Hall of D2 Flying and has received a Dante Level 2 Certification from Audinate. He has designed sound, system tech'd, and/or composed original music for over 100 theatrical productions.
