About me
Over the past 25 years, James has produced and directed over 200 hours of internationalfilm and television programs from the award-winning Australian children's television series
"The Curiosity Show" which was awarded the Gold Medal at the prestigious Prix Jeunesse
International in Munich for Best Children's television series ……. to the highly acclaimed and
ground-breaking television series 'The Voyage of the Great Southern Ark'. Both 'The
Curiosity Show' and 'The Voyage of the Great Southern Ark' have been widely broadcast by
PBS & Discovery and throughout many overseas territories such as USA, Canada, UK, West
Germany, Australia and New Zealand. ‘From the Dragon’s Mouth”, a 10-year retrospective
of Hong Kong’s handover, was broadcast by BBC World. James’s films have so far garnered
over 60 international awards for his cinematography, writing & direction.
James Lingwood’s real passion is storytelling & visualization, and he is bringing his wealth of
knowledge into the making of films that emotionally resonate with audiences from Shanghai
to Abu Dhabi. His vast experience in both the film & TV industries, and the fact that he has
directed two of the world’s greatest actors & superstars, namely Geoffrey Rush (Best Actor,
Academy Awards 2007) and Jackie Chan, amongst others, enables James to engage with the
best people in the industry and to initiate, develop and produce high quality films that are
both artistically & commercially successful. For his outstanding and award-winning work,
James has been invited to become a member of the prestigious International Quorum of
Motion Picture Producers, USA, consisting of some of the world’s most celebrated
producers from over 50 countries.
James also directed the Yan Can Cook television series for PBS, which was screened in over
100 countries worldwide, namely “Yan Can Cook – Best of Hong Kong” and “Yan Can Cook
– Best of Thailand”. The ‘Best of China’ series won the James Beard Trophy and was voted
the “Fourth Best Cooking Show of All Time”

Another short film, Impact 50 – The End’s Beginning was a finalist in The London
Screenwriters Festival and is to be a part of a feature film, The End is Closer Than You Think,
which will be coming out later this year. The short film was chosen from hundreds around
the world.
James was recently invited to direct a 50th Anniversary Amnesty International TV
Campaign for CNN with 15 other Directors from around the world. Meryl Streep narrated
the film and Hans Zimmer composed the music track. Earlier this year, James was invited to
be one of the judges for the 50th International US Film & Video Film Festival 2020.
James is currently working on a diverse and international slate of feature film, TV and
documentary projects, some of which he will produce and others which he will direct. James
