About me
A Development Producer from the UK with an open work permitI have extensive knowledge of the Canadian and international industry (including IATSE unions) and relationships with agencies including Film Comm, and Meridian Artists in Canada, along with Curtis Brown, ICM, Red Arrow, Casarotto, United, and Independent in the UK. A creative thinker with good verbal, written and communication skills, my experience spans writing pitch documents, treatments and attending broadcaster meetings. I have worked alongside production teams and attended weekly strategy and update meetings, working closely with production and the executive producers. I have mediated closely with writers – protecting the story flame whilst efficiently amending the script ready for production, enabling me to assess the creative content of production funding requests. I have worked with development slates and distributed briefs from broadcasters, sourced deficit funding, and completed post-production paperwork.
I have completed television and feature film freelance reading and coverage for Eleventh Hour Films, (Foyle's War, Safe House) Mammoth Screen (Poldark, Victoria), and Premiere Pictures.
I studied the Script Development Diploma at the National Film and Television School with script consultants Ludo Smolski (Filth - 2013) and Angeli MacFarlane, (I am Slave - 2010) and graduated in February 2016.
I have furthered my development through intensive Script Editing essentials courses at the Indie Training Fund with script editor Phillip Shelley, and Breaking Into Script Reading course with script editor and published author Lucy V Hay.
I produced a short film, ‘Ocean Within’ which recently premiered at London Film Festival. I was responsible for all aspects of production from pre-production to delivery, call sheets, managing budgets, booking crew, crowd funding, logistics and admin. I was also script editor for another film, ‘Tehzeeb’ which went on to win Best Short.
I am currently a member on the Panel of Canada's Pilot Project - https://www.the-pilot-project.com/experts -a mentoring scheme working with new Canadian writers.
I have also been a member of the scripted comedy panel for Bafta Rocliffe UK - https://www.bafta.org/sites/default/files/uploads/baftarocliffepaneljury_22.pdf
I want to be a part of the developing Canadian film industry. I have a solid understanding of feature film financing and the business infrastructure behind making a film and I realise the importance to be diplomatic and professional especially when in the creative working environment.
My curricular studies have contributed to form my expertise in the development of scripts for fiction feature films. I studied Film and Video at the University of Wales, specialising in writing and producing. I have further developed my interest in studying scripted development by attending the National Film and Television School. One of my first experiences of the international market was when I was employed by the Weinstein Company, working as distribution intern on My Week with Marilyn, which led to an internship at See-Saw Films on the Kings Speech and Shame. I was given responsibilities for many aspects including screening films, reading scripts, tracking talent and submissions, and updating the company with national and international industry news.
