The making of Pause, post apocalyptic short
Mad Max meets the English Joan of Arc Set in 2035 Sixteen years old Rosie Stace is being brought up and highly trained by her ex commando father, Commander Ian (Stacey) Stace. They ended up fleeing to Vectis, formerly known as the Isle of Wight, after a mega tsunami took out a third of the world population and it's infrastructure. Tribes rule and violent gangs run the chaotic mainland, taking and using its valuable resources that are running low. Swathes of the UK coastline have been damaged and disappeared apart from high lying areas. Most of the island has survived due to it's unique structure and is now self sufficient with it's natural resources, including solar power, dairy farms and fuel banks. After his heavily pregnant wife is raped and killed in a gang raid on their family home in Devon seven years ago, Cmdr Stace continues because of Rosie. The attack was led by Sylo, formerly Stu Roberts a commando trained by Stacey, until an accident rendered him blind. Previous to this they had been good friends but blaming Stace, Sylo is out to destroy him and his family. Immediately after the attack Staceys son was removed from his mums womb and is now being raised as a killer by Sylo. Commander Stace has organised the locals on Vectis to form a small but efficient army to protect their safe haven from invaders. Having lost his once strong faith in God, Stace has turned to the bottle but manages to hide his addiction from everyone except his daughter. Rosie manages to cover for him, but can she grow into the fearless leader that she is destined to become?
