A General Grumble

I'd like to think of myself of one who doesn't complain too often. However.

I'd just like to say that it would be great if actors and employers alike remembered a bit of bloody common courtesy when dealing with each other. A bit of bloody decency. Some consideration.

Neither side of this industry exists without the other, so there is absolutely no need for attitude, posturing and power plays quite frankly. It's completely unnecessary.

How about some bloody consideration for each other eh??

That would be Utopia, Monty.
Sadly you have to bear in mind the enormous egos of participants, often on both sides, and the fact that good 'attitude' is learned over a good successful career. It is when someone is constantly messed around that they can become embittered and spiteful.
We can only hope that courtesy given will result in courtesy returned.
Besides...you can always walk away from arrogance or ineptitude. There can be nothing worse for arrogance to be met with 'Whatever....'!
Cheer up, old chum! Life ain't so bad. Let those that worry take the worry with them when they go. And they WILL go!

I'm afraid you can only be responsible for your end of the deal- as long as you're living by the excellent rules of politeness, diplomacy and professionalism you'll be OK.

Rude people don't get so far in the business- and it's their choice to be like that. And ours to do what's right for us.

Chin up: Nil illegitimus carborundum!

Well said Sally.
The Latin translation is slightly flawed. But it is my motto too!

Yeah,
it should be
"Noli nothis permittere te terere."
but no one knows what I mean then... ;)

"Don't let the bastards grind/wear you down."

Knew that classical education I slept though would come in handy one day.

Funnily enough, it was a favourite saying in my RAF days (flying cabbage crates over the briney don't you know), but a very appropriate one. Our Initial Officer Training Course motto was 'Per Bundu Ad Astra' (through ploughed fields to the stars), which, if you've ever done officer training, will make perfect sense to you. And if you haven't, sorry, it probably won't!

Sorry, I'm rambling at the moment. I'm temping, and have been for 3 months, and this is my only lifeline to reality (well......the reality I'd like to be mine), which is possibly the same way you're feeling Monty. So I'm right there alongside you, marching to the beat of the same drum etc (oh god, I'm off again!).

What was that? Oh, it appears the men in the white coats have come to escort me to the nicely padded vehicle outside and they're going to make me better!
