Chunky Move, in partnership with the Tanja Liedtke Foundation is calling for applications to be the company’s inaugural Choreographer In Residence. The introduction of this major new initiative extends our commitment to supporting established, independent choreographers to develop their careers over an extended 2-year period.This initiative, developed by Chunky Move and supported through the generosity of the Tanja Liedtke Foundation, is a singular opportunity for choreographic artists in Australia.The Choreographer In Residence will be supported to develop and present new work, further their artistic practice, gain organisational knowledge, extend their professional networks and build a meaningful and long-standing connection with Chunky Move. This program is neither a fellowship nor a direct commissioning opportunity, rather it is intended to create a structure that balances creative flexibility with clear outcomes across the residency period.The Choreographer In Residence will receive:A stipend of $40,000 per year, for two yearsA dedicated production budget to enable the realisation of a new workRegular access to Chunky Move’s studios and officeExtensive opportunities for structured and informal professional and practice developmentThe Choreographer In Residence will be encouraged to work with Chunky Move as part of an integrated expansion of their own practice. Through an initial Expression of Interest process, we are asking applicants to respond to questions that consider what this might look like in practice. Proposals should be relevant to your interests and thoughtfully reflect on the potential impact this opportunity might have on your art making, now and into the future.
