About me
My love for fashion and design, which prompted post-school studies in that industry, has through the years been fine-tuned and focused to bloom into a full-blown passion for the theatre back-stage environment of props, costumes and masks.Working with Performance House has been an incredible journey, exposing me to a wide range of productions as they were willing to spend money on rights for well-known productions.
However, amateur drama productions force you to find creative solutions for props, masks and costumes in order to adhere to an often limited budget.
I learned to adopt costumes and props so that children can move and act freely and easily onstage, especially as they might have limited strength to carry heavy items.
One of the personal highlights in my life is completing my degree, and especially the product design modules have proven valuable in broadening my thinking and problem-solving skills.
My initial fashion design studies have prepared me for tasks such as basic millinery, covering shoes, working with (faux) leather, working with clay, silk painting, on top of designing costumes such as ballroom gowns for some productions.
I am self-motivated and enjoy working with others. I love the challenge to find creative and unique ways to bring 2D designs to life. In fact, for me the success of any project lies in the creativity and uniqueness of the solutions, refinement until all requirements are met, as well as keeping to set deadlines.
