About me
Since Graduating from the Central School of Speech and Drama, Mark has taken a keen interest in both touring and REP theatre. Working in the roles of Technical Swing, Technical ASM through to Deputy Master Carpenter, Mark has been able to utilise his carpentry, management and problem solving skills to suit a wide range of projects. As Deputy Master Carpenter Mark regularly dealt with instructing local staff from venues across the UK and Internationally. This was either in the form of teaching show specific cues such as when up in the Flys or through assisting the Master Carpenter in the Load in and out and general maintenance of the show.Mark also takes great pride in ensuring that the physical production is delivered to the best quality in the circumstances given; whether this requires that extra items are to be tailor built per venue or that the logistics backstage need to be re-thought inorder to allow the production to work overall.
Mark is always willing to explore new techniques and skills to aid his working practice. As a result, he has furthered his skillset in to Automation and now works full time as a member of the Auto team in the Olivier Theatre within the National Theatre. Here Mark is regularly involved in the planning, construction and running of multiple productions. He has also developed his knowledge of not only desk software (in this case Taits' Navigator) but also the implementation and use of different stage machinery, commissioning tools such as limits and encoders and also programming logic.
