About me
I work as a fulltime Lighting technician, supporting touring LD's and RAH Head of Lighting on turnarounds and fitups, rigging, focusing, patching and operating Lighting. My everyday work is interpreting and documenting Rigging and LX plans, planning power and DMX distribution, supervising casual technicians, troubleshooting and problem solving.
For example, as Brighton Dome LX1 on "Until the Lions" by Akram Khan Company, I planned power and dmx feeds to the three circular truss structures bristling with moving heads. Each fixture was to be individually powered and documented (for hard resets) and the power runs were to be as invisible as possible (not so simple in the Dome Concert hall). I worked closely with the touring LD and supervised the four Dome technicians rigging the lamps.
Another example, "Fugua Perpetua" was a live music/projection event in the Brighton Dome Corn Exchange, with two massive projection screens sandwiching five musicians, each of which had a series of profiles focussed on them with different gels. Due to the time constraints of Brighton Festival, I pre-programmed the show according to the descriptions in their que list (finessed during rehearsal), rigged and focussed the lamps and operated the show that night.
I enjoy working closely with visiting LD's and helping people achieve their creative vision. I am known for working hard and I like to take pride in all aspects of my work.
I also work as a Freelance Lighting Technician for conferences and events.
On these jobs I am often working by myself or directing local crew to help me rig truss, hang and focus lights, patch and address fixtures, power, dmx, program and operate (usually Avolites desks).
