About me
Ray is a double awarding winning actor and was was born in South East London and acting has been a passion for him since he was five years old and when he left school at the age of fifteen he was told by his drama teacher “Make sure you go on the stage” but alas he was unable to follow his dream in those days and has had countless jobs before being able to reignite his love of the profession and has appeared in films, theatre and commercials. Ray trained on a course called “In front of camera” over a two year period with the London based Translantic Films, and with Jon Campbell acting where this quote comes from "Ray is a fine actor who has not scratched the surface of his talent yet" and also a eighteen month acting course at Morley College London and more recently RADA workshops. Recently has appeared in Alan Ayckbourn’ s “Comic Potential” as Lester Trainsmith and as a gangland boss in the short film “The Boss” He has done numerous roles in Corporate films and played Dennis Thatcher alongside Alan Carr in his “Summertime “Specs”tacular for C4. Another stage role was as a transgender bishop in “Ah Men” at the Soho theatre and he also played the pope on the BBC’s Ask Rhod Gilbert show. Being very versatile he can play heavy roles as well as using his great sense of humour in comedic roles also. In 1973 Ray was the resident DJ on the QE2, his love for all types of music is still as strong as ever. Amongst the many short films that Ray has appeared in was “The Blue Brothers” for Met Film School with Jason Flemyng, Ray also played Dr Capablanca in “Checkmate” a film commissioned by the Make a Wish Foundation for a terminally ill young boy, which he found immensely fulfilling and rewarding. This quote come from Jon Campbell acting workshops, ”There is a lot in Ray, so much so that I think as a performer he's barely scratched the surface. His personality, (and make no mistake, personality plays an enormous part in this industry) and determination to do the best he can means that he is a great asset to any production he appears in” In his younger days Ray was a keen marathon runner for Hern Hill Harriers; nowadays he keeps fit and active on the golf course, and loves long walks. He lives in Surrey with his partner of sixteen years and has a son from a previous relationship. Quote from Brian Franklin (Director)"Ray is a great guy and a great actor. He was full of energy and motivated right through a long shoot day. He brought a real believability to his character and i thoroughly enjoyed working with him. Thank you Ray" Another quote from Director Billy Knight "I really enjoyed working with Ray. 100% professional, reliable and good to be around. Really funny guy, full of ideas and energy. The short film idea was a little dark and sombre, but having Ray onset made it a little more fun when the camera wasn't rolling"Dear Ray,
I just wanted to drop you a quick note to say a big thank you on behalf of all the team here at ITV Studios for your participation in our drama reconstruction. It was a pleasure meeting and working with you.
You were absolutely fantastic and did an amazing job playing the part of Kell Hutchence. We couldn't have found anyone more suited to the role! It was a long day and we had a lot to get through so I really appreciate you being so calm, focused, and patient with us. The content was amazing and it was brilliant to see it all finally come together.
We couldn't have done it without you!
Thank you again Ray,
Kind regards,
Anabel
