About me
I have recently left behind the idea that the different paths that I have pursued throughout my life are individual and diverging entities. On the contrary, I have a unique opportunity to beautifully integrate and merge my two paths–human rights advocacy and acting– to create something dynamic and powerful.I began acting at the age of 9 years old after landing my first job as an actor in a series of Family Channel commercials, a popular Canadian TV Network for kids. From there, I continued to work in the commercial industry and also gained experience in film and television on various projects. I spent her childhood and teen years in intensive dramatic arts programs, training in contact/movement, clown, sketch comedy, scene study, script writing, and directing. In my final year of high school, I felt driven to pursue another path: fulltime studies and work in the human rights, politics, and international development sector. I have spent the past 8 years of my life learning and studying the world (particularly Latin America and the Caribbean where her origins stem from) and the various pressing social, political, and economic issues we are faced with as a global community. My work has brought me to various countries researching and working on issues such as youth delinquency, youth abuse, human trafficking, Indigenous rights, poverty-alleviation, the commercial sexual exploitation of children, and violence against women. I had taken a break from acting for several years to pursue studies and work in human rights/politics.
Fast forward to 2020, after stepping away from acting for the last years, I am eager to jump back into the film and television industry and merge the two worlds. Growing older has only revealed to me that there is so much synergy between human rights/development work and working as an actor. Deeply exploring socials worlds and experiences (many extremely heavy and heart-wrenching) apart from my own has made me overwrought with excitement over the prospect of diving into character development, story-telling, and connecting with other beings. I am much more curious, hardworking, intentional and driven than I already was during my younger years. I am in a place where I am excited to explore all that can come out with the amalgamation of these two worlds.
On a final note- I am so open and excied to work with other actors and creators on cool projects. Hit me up if you're interested in collaborating!
