About me
I am a Canadian living in London, UK. I am looking for work in costuming for theatre, film, tv, or any other form of event/production. I do have a valid work permit for the UK.I mainly do tailoring for men's wear, but I have experience in women's wear, dance/stretch wear, street wear, period wear and costume wear (i.e. animals, etc). I am looking to work in either a costume house environment, or a theatre wardrobe environment. I would prefer a permeant position, but certainly will also do contract work, short or long term. I would also consider a tour, either of the UK, Europe, or anywhere in the world!
I am a fun, friendly, and happy guy. One who like to be able to smile while working, but at the same time I take my work serious, and I am frugal about the work that I produce. I feel I have learned a lot in my time studying and working in the industry, but look forward to the huge amount more there is to learn and conquer in the world of tailoring.
Please see the files section of my profile for a complete costume work resume.

To whom it may concern,
My name is Stefan Dean. I am costume builder who focuses mainly on tailoring for theatre, film, and television. Having recently moved from Canada to London, I wish to pursue my tailoring career here in the UK. Currently I hold a BFA degree for Theatre Technical Production, with a specialization in costume construction. I have authorization to work in the UK, as I hold a valid work permit visa, and I am interested in working for your company.
During my years of university, I studied many aspects of costume construction, from women's wear to millenary to tailoring. Though I enjoyed all aspects of costuming, I was especially intrigued by men's tailoring. During my school years, therefore, I focused on tailoring, and have continued to do so in my professional working career. Thankfully, I started working professionally during my time at school, and even started working under a master tailor during my last year of study. Until recently when I left Canada, I had been working under this tailor at the company he works for, but he has also asked me many times to work with him on outside projects for other companies. In addition to working with him, I have been fortunate enough to work on some fantastic shows such as The Sound of Music (Toronto, co-produced by Andrew Lloyd Webber), Elvis (Cirque du Soleil), Mary Poppins (Broadway in NYC), and Alice in Wonderland (film by Tim Burton).
Over my years of schooling and professional career, I have developed--and continue to develop --into a better costume builder. I am grateful that I discovered my love for tailoring, and that I was able to work closely with a great tailor, as well as many other talented cutters, stitchers, and designers. I feel that my education, along with my experience and continued learning in the workforce has helped me become a very good builder, cutter, and tailor within a relatively short time. As a hard worker, an enthusiastic learner and a team player with great independent skills, I feel that I would make a great employee for your company. As such, I expect that I will gain valuable experience and knowledge from working with your company and its employees. If you have any costume-oriented positions available now or in the future, I would greatly appreciate being considered for them. Please see my attached resume for your review. Thank you very much for your time, and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Sincerely yours,
Stefan Dean

To whom it may concern;
By way of introduction, I have been a tailor/ cutter for men's costume since 1975, holding the position of Chief Tailor/ Cutter primarily at the Stratford Festival Theatre located in Ontario Canada. The past 10 years I have held the same kind of position for Seamless Costumes in Toronto. Felsen is my own company producing men's costume independently.
It was during my first teaching opportunity at Ryerson University ( Toronto) that I had met and began mentoring Stefan Dean, a graduate student that year. From the very beginning Stefan was an exceptional student. He was willing to accept responsibility and assume a leadership role. He also understood period shape and was able to use his draping and cutting skills effectively. Since then he has worked with me primarily at Seamless Costumes and for Felsen as a tailor. He has become an accomplished tailor and is able to produce a quality product within time constraints.
I would recommend Stefan for a position as a tailor and or draper of men's costume. He is focused and committed to his craft.
Sincerely yours,
Marvin Schlichting.
