About me
Natasha Backlin is a screenwriter from Calgary, Alberta. She has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Victoria, and worked in sales for KraftHeinz in Vancouver until she realized that Heinz ketchup sells pretty well on its own. Pivoting off that epiphany, she completed the Writing for Film and Television program at Vancouver Film School. There, she produced the short film “El Otro Lado de la Pasión”, a telenovela satire, and won Best Screenplay in her film school cohort for her feature script, The Lost Years. In 2017, Natasha's TV Pilot Morale Gals was a Top 10 Finalist in Stage 32's Happy Writers Comedy Contest, and her comedy pilot Small Victories was a second rounder in the Austin Film Festival screenplay competition. Her comedy sketch “Slam Poetry Night” was purchased by Frostbite Digital for the Unfiltered Live pilot in development in Vancouver, and she was commissioned to write a romantic comedy feature script for Resonating Films. She was a participant in the 2017 Women on Screen Web Series Incubator, and is currently writing comedy web series I Did, which is in pre-production in Toronto. Natasha wants to work in a comedy writers’ room because she’s constantly disappointed by dialogue in real life.
