Can anyone recommend a company that will produce a new voice reel for me ? It will be a general one with all the whistles and bells. I have a dry corporate and narration one, and now need one with sound effects, music ect... for more general reads. Thank you.
Hello Lisa. I would be remiss if I didn't recommend VoiceOver Soho, which did my reels (they are amazing and whichever team member you choose you'll get great results) , but I understand from my working colleagues that Showreel is a viable option, but you might benefeit more if you include the reel in a package that involves at least a weekend seminar so you can experience how they work. You might even learn some tips that make your reel even better.
There are lots of choices, and you'll have to spend a little money. Remember, that is these people's jobs. They are trying to make it so you gets jobs. Though more expensive doesn't equate to quality, cheaper rarely does either.
In the end, you need to go with who you feel comfortable with, someone who will work with you to make a better reel, not just someone who throws some scripts your way and says, "there is the mic". They need to be someone that helps you make the right choices. Again, it's their job.
Whoever you go with, it's a plus if they are a professional. They can ensure your voice isn't drowned out by the music or FX.
I can't recommend JP Orr at The Showreel more highly! He did both my commercial and corporate/narrative reels back in January. I did some coaching with JP in the two months preceding, which I feel really meant he got the most out of me and as we'd developed a great working relationship already. Such a lovely guy who's so good at what he does :)
