    Open Casting Call

The Indigenous Network (TIN) is developing a mini-series for children ages 0-6 years old that will be accessible online. The mini-series is linked to TIN’s early years centre, which is currently not operating due to COVID-19 restrictions, and this is the key reason why the online mini-series is being created.

The script for the mini-series is written by Wenonah Wilms, an Ojibwe Screen Writer.

The series focuses on a fictional Ojibwe family (grandmother, grandfather, and their two grandchildren) and demonstrates lessons that are easily understood by toddlers, while incorporating various Indigenous cultures across Canada.

TIN is looking for Indigenous actors to provide voice-overs for the four characters in the mini-series. Approximate length of each episode is ten minutes long, with very simple dialogues. Although the main characters in the series are Ojibwe, their culture will not be the focus of this series. The episodes are intended to be as geographically representative and inclusive as possible, incorporating aspects of various Indigenous cultures across Canada.

Children are welcomed to apply for the roles of the grandchildren as long as they are comfortable and able to read a script independently with little to no assistance.

    • Must be a non-union actor.

Dates and Location: All recordings will take place in Downtown Toronto at a recording studio during the last week of March, dates are TBD. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, each actor will be assigned a specific time to record their segments in the studio.

Pay: Pay will be discussed with those who are selected. Payment will be provided after the recordings are complete.

    How to apply:

    ·      Attach your resume and state the role you are interested in, and identify if you are either First Nation, Inuit, or Métis.

    ·      Attach an audio or video recording (under one minute in length) of yourself expressing why you are interested in participating in this project.

Actors considered for these roles will be invited for an initial interview by telephone or videoconference. If you are invited to a second interview you will be required to perform a live video audition using sections from the script that will be provided to you in advance. Due to time constraints, only those who are successful in each phase of the process will be contacted.
