Project DetailsCJAM 99.1 FM – Student Media/University of Windsor – is hiring for the position of BIPOC ENGAGEMENT COORDINATOR. This 1-year contract position is 35 hours a week. It requires a flexible individual who is occasionally available for evening, and weekend duties when required.CJAM is a nonprofit volunteer-driven campus-based community radio station providing an alternative to the music and spoken-word programming featured in the mainstream media – serving listener communities that are often under represented or maligned.About the position:The BIPOC Engagement Coordinator will look to outreach and make connections with the University of Windsor campus, including student groups, faculty, and departments. They will engage the community, and make important connections with off campus groups while creating a culture of inclusivity and belonging for BIPOC within CJAM FM. They will work with the Station Manager and Board of Directors to assist in updating the language and reflect societal changes in CJAMs policies and procedures. The BIPOC Engagement Coordinator will create an external contact list for continued and future contact to inform people of volunteer opportunities, job openings, and internships. The Coordinator will host training sessions for our current volunteers on our revised policies and procedures.CJAM recognizes the over-representation of white/non-radicalized voices within our staff and prioritizes the contributions, perspectives, and lived experiences that individuals from Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour communities bring to our organizations’ work and mission.
