Casting “Things Behind The Sun,” a narrative short film that follows a few days in the life of Eric Zhang (15), a high level tennis player, and his dedicated single mother Grace (55). Their daily life mounts with pressure as the most important tournament of the season approaches while simultaneously dealing with family problems. It’s a very personal story, based on the life of the director.

Shooting this project without a conventional, finished script, instead relying on an outline and improvisation to fill out the scenes. Preference for an organic production process that leaves room for exploration rather than just shooting exactly what was written.
