About me
I initially began working for theatre in 2012 when I was employed by Opera Australia as a casual member of the production team for major shows being performed inside and out of the Opera House in Sydney. My duties included truck and container loading, stage preparation and maintenance, prop placement, set construction, showcalls, and warehouse store operations. Shows that I have worked on include Verdi’s The Masked Ball, Aida and Handel’s Partenope.
Also during my time there I had the opportunity of working on a number of outdoor opera performances including the first ever Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour: La Traviata in 2012 which was a monumental undertaking for the Australian performing arts industry.
In 2013 I joined the Arts Centre Melbourne production team with the intention of putting into practice what I had initially learned while working in Sydney. My duties included working alongside the theatre’s Head Mechanist to ensure the construction and maintenance of theatrical sets as well as being responsible for delivering action cues for live performances and public events.
Shows that I have been involved with include Philip Glass’s Einstein on the Beach, The Australian Ballet’s rendition of Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake, The Illusionists, and one of Arts Centre Melbourne’s most technically difficult shows to perform, Wagner’s 200th Anniversary Ringcycle 2013 by Opera Australia.
Additional skills:
• Proficiency with industry standard production tools and theatre stage procedures.
• Excellent organisation skills with the ability to take direction and complete tasks.
• Safety conscious worker with keen observation skills during a chaotic work environment.
• I’m fit, strong, patient and have a good sense of humour.
